Kyoto with Tsukiya. All travelers always imagine the place they will visit and hope to spend their time like local people. We always feel richness and depth of daily life in this area. We gently contain these feelings and hope you enjoy it as well. We and Tsukiya are immature. We do not have enough experience and history yet. However we utilized its history and atmosphere to recreate its true color by using ancient knowledge, putting time and effort into it by ourselves. Seasonal flowers. Seasonal arrangements of each rooms. And breakfast. We learn hospitality from daily life and enjoy it to make you delighted. We hope you spend completely relaxed time and have a great travel in Tsukiya, Kyoto.
Staying at the real traditional Machiya
Machiya is made from wood, mud and paper.
Weaving bamboos, daubing with mud, braiding woods, rubbing with oil and Kakishibu(persimmon tannin)
This Machiya was built in 1920.
We renovated it by ourselves in traditional way which hasn’t changed in hundreds of years.
You can feel the sign of morning every day, beautiful afternoon sunset through the old glass,
wooden lattices, Mushiko mado.
You can go through kitchen with Hibukuro(serves as a chimney), and see Engawa (verandah)
next to the small garden.
Please make yourself at home in our unique rooms.
